Synthetic Strata

Estratos sintéticos

2018-ongoing

In this series each piece depicts a new geologic formation, a type of neo-conglomerate between rocks, stones, and fragments of industrial waste (plastic).

It's part of a series of work from Future Imprints where I illustrate the human impact on Earth at a stratigraphic scale in a tangible manner by appropriating the imagery of rocks, stones and minerals, and reimagined them with new inorganic - synthetic layers as aggregates in order to show the permanence of their materiality over time.

Thus creating a kind of speculative documentation of our epoch, where these new formations of conglomerates are recordings on the Earth’s strata and portray our present time on a geological scale.
